MANILA, Philippines — A public school principal was arrested in a drug sting in Surigao del Sur, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency reported yesterday.

The PDEA said the 45-year-old suspect is a District 1 school supervisor (Principal III) in Tagbina town and had been under surveillance following reports from the community linking him to illegal drug activities.

Operatives of PDEA-13 and members of the Tagbina town police conducted the sting in Purok 3 in Barangay Poblacion late on Friday.

Seized during the operation were two heat-sealed plastic sachets containing shabu worth P6,800.

The suspect is under the custody of the Tagbina police, pending the filing of charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
