"Scarlet," the latest anime film offering from Japanese director Mamoru Hosoda, is heading to Philippine cinemas this year!

The film will be released in the country on December 10, Columbia Pictures announced in a press release.

According to a report from Anime News Network, "Scarlet" follows a princess who travels across space and time to avenge the murder of her father.

Hosoda is the director behind the "Belle" (2021), "The Boy and the Beast" (2015), "Wolf Children" (2012), "Summer Wars" (2009), and "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" (2006).

He also directed the 2018 film "Mirai," which picked up nominations for Best Animated Feature in the Golden Globes, the Critics' Choice Awards, and the Oscars.
