MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has set aside P2 billion this year for a loan facility to help women-led micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) grow.

In a statement, the DTI said it earmarked P2 billion from its financing arm, Small Business Corp. (SBCorp) for the Women’s Enterprise Fund (WEF) this year.

Through the WEF, the DTI aims to help women expand their businesses by providing capital.

Women who start their own businesses do not just augment their family income, but also help drive economic growth through the creation of jobs.

“We continue to support women entrepreneurs seeking local and global expansion, while also opening opportunities for those ready to expand, create jobs and strengthen local economies,” Trade Secretary Cristina Roque said.

“We understand that capital is a challenge to many and the DTI through SBCorp. have tailored programs to meet the needs of our MSMEs like this WEF,” she said further.

Under the WEF, women-owned and women-led MSMEs can borrow P30,000 to P20 million.

The loans have a one-year grace period on capital and interest.

Loans under the WEF also have flexible repayment terms for up to five years.

SBCorp. is waiving requirements for loans worth P5 million and below.

Women-led MSMEs can apply for loans through the SBCorp. Money App or the web app at app.sbcorp.ph.
