MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte and Sen. Bong Go emerged as the most preferred candidates for president and vice president, respectively, in the latest 2028 pre-election survey conducted by Pulse Asia.
The survey, conducted from June 28 to July 6, found that 49 percent of the respondents would vote for Duterte from among the list of potential candidates for president.
Her closest rivals were Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo and Sen. Raffy Tulfo, who received the support of 26 percent and 14 percent of the respondents, respectively.
The three other individuals in the list provided to respondents – Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon, Baguio City Mayor Benjie Magalong and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority general manager Nicolas Torre – obtained the support of one percent or less.
Ten percent said they do not know or refused to answer, while the remaining respondents supplied other names.
The survey results showed that Duterte had the support of most respondents across socio-economic groups and geographic areas, except in balance Luzon where she tied with Robredo at 31 percent.
Meanwhile, in the vice presidential race, Go obtained the support of 27 percent of the respondents.
He was followed by Sen. Robin Padilla with 21 percent, Sen. Bam Aquino with 14 percent and former senator Grace Poe with 14 percent.
Other names in the list were Sen. Erwin Tulfo with nine percent, Sen. Kiko Pangilinan with four percent and Torre with less than one percent.
Nine percent did not identify any person whom they would support for vice president.
The survey was conducted amid the ongoing impeachment proceedings against Duterte.
