MANILA, Philippines — San Sebastian College survived a fierce resistance put up by Lyceum of the Philippines U in the first set to hammer out a 30-28, 25-21 25-16 victory yesterday in the NCAA Season 100 women’s volleyball at the EAC Gym.

Skipper Kat Santos unleashed a match-high 22 points, including key hits in the opening set when the Lady Stags fended off the Lady Pirates’ repeated attempts to steal the set.

University of Perpetual Help leads the way with a pristine 6-0 record while Letran and four-peat feat-seeking St. Benilde share second with a 6-1 card apiece.

LPU sank to 1-6.

In the other women’s outing, Arellano U withstood a fierce challenge by Jose Rizal U and escaped with a 25-27, 25-13, 19-25, 25-9, 15-9 win to improve to 4-3.

Laika Tudlasan carried most of the scoring brunt and finished with a match-best 24 points, including 22 off attacks while Marianne Padillon scattered 15 hits for Arellano.

Samantha Garbrielle also fired at will and dropped a 14-point effort.

The Lady Bombers tumbled to 1-6.
