A group of students from the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) in Makati City developed Saandugo PH, a platform that aims to connect blood donors with patients in need.

According to Martin Javier's Game Changer report on "24 Oras" Friday, the Saandugo PH team is composed of creative lead Mariko Chan Pinco, project lead Erick Perlas, tech lead Louisse Kayle Palomo, and strategy lead John Abrico, all of whom are working towards their Master in Innovation and Business (ASITE) degrees at AIM.

Perlas said that Saandugo addresses the pain point of many patients in need of blood, who also experience different types of stress in the process.

"Ikaw as a pasyente 'di ba parang iniisip mo na rin 'yung financial stress, 'yung emotional stress tapos 'yung pasyente mo nandun, then iisipin mo pa kung saan ka hahagilap ng dugo," said Perlas.

"The vision is to centralize the search for blood where the donors, the patient, the doctors, the hospitals,  the LGUs can go to just one platform and simplify a streamlined process,"  Pinco also said.

To make the matching of donors and patients easier, potential blood donors can register on the platform by providing pertinent information, including their blood type.

"We offer 'yung mga donors natin to register sa platform natin... for them to be able to access 'yung mga Saandugo blood drives, some information about 'yung mga donation history nila, and next donation eligibility," said Palomo.

The main feature of Saandugo is the "Find Blood" feature, which is currently being improved on by the team.

"The app will lead you to where the blood sources are and will link you up to the available donor in that particular area. We're giving them a feeling of safety and availability," said Abrico.

Abrico added that the platform also allows users to receive a message when there's a donation drive coming to their area.
