Ruffa Gutierrez gives update on dad Eddie's health after spine treatment

MANILA, Philippines — Ruffa Gutierrez gave a positive update on her father and fellow actor Eddie Gutierrez, who is recovering from spinal issues.

On her Instagram account, Ruffa relayed neurosurgeon Dr. Prem Pillay's comments that after over a week in Singapore, Eddie's spine infection is steadily improving. 

"Dad's nerves are no longer as compressed, kumakain na ulit si Daddy, and most importantly, we are hopeful that he will be able to walk again soon," Ruffa said in her post's caption.

The actress added that Eddie needs to visit his urologist Dr. Sam Peh one more time and he will be cleared to return to Manila.

"We are so thankful for Dad’s ongoing recovery and for every single prayer said on his behalf. So many sleepless nights, so many tears…but also so much love," Ruffa continued.

She also expressed gratitude for those who are constantly checking in on their family, as well as those who offered prayers and "showed genuine concern" for her father. 

"If you're feeling down right now, hold on to your faith. Prayers work, and miracles happen every day," Ruffa ended.

Ruffa's twin brothers, Richard and Raymond, also thanked the people who prayed for their father.

Eddie underwent a procedure in 2021 that cleared him of prostate cancer. Two years later, the actor had cataract surgery.
