Trigger warning: Mentions of bullying
MANILA, Philippines — Actor Rob Sy has spoken about the lawsuit filed against him by Alfred Vargas and his wife Yasmine Espiritu over the alleged bullying incident involving their children.
Through a Facebook post, Rob shared a screenshot of an article about the filing of a case by the Quezon City councilor.
He said that as a parent, the situation where his child is accused of being a bully, is hard.
Sobra Na!!! Labis na ang Paninira,” he said.
“IPAGLALABAN PO NAMIN ANG KATOTOHANAN. Wala man po kaming Yaman at Impluwensya, Hawak naman po namin ang Integridad at Katotohanan na Hindi Nabibili ng Posisyon,” he added.
Alfred and his wife filed a criminal complaint last Monday against the parents of a minor who allegedly bullied and abused their son during swimming activities.
The legal action stems from a pattern of conduct where the respondents’ minor child repeatedly pushed and held the Vargases’ son underwater during swimming training sessions.
These bullying incidents, involving repeated attempts to submerge the Vargas couple’s child, occurred several times despite efforts, reminders, and appeals made by the Vargases to the parents of the bully to tell their child to stop and to manage the minor’s conduct.
The complaint, filed before the Office of the City Prosecutor of Manila, cited the respondents, the parents of a minor, for violation of Section 10(a) of Republic Act No. 7610, or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
