Every Lunar New Year carries its own personality, but 2026 arrives with hooves blazing. As Feng Shui expert Patrick Lim Fernandez of the Yin & Yang Shop of Harmony observes, the Year of the Yang Fire Horse is marked by a tempo that is anything but subtle.

“This is not a year of moderation; it’s a year of momentum,” he reminds us -- and I’m sure with the barrage of events we had to keep up with barely two months into the year, you have already felt it too.

Fire years illuminate and expose, while Horse years accelerate. Put together, they demand courage, presence and clarity. Decisions come quicker, opportunities move faster and life has a way of nudging--sometimes pushing-- us toward action. But this fiery momentum comes with a caveat: when energy surges, misaligned effort burns out just as fast.

Patrick calls the strategy for 2026 disciplined momentum: simplifying what’s complicated, removing what drains you and committing only to what truly matters. And as someone who has spent her career in broadcasting, production and motherhood, often all at once, I understand how powerful calibration can be. Fire can warm, inspire and illuminate, but only when it is directed.

And so, we return to the lesson hidden in the Horse’s role in the ancient zodiac race. It wasn’t speed alone that determined victory. It was awareness, steady pacing and the wisdom to know when to push and when to pause. As we gallop into the months ahead, maybe that’s the reminder we all need: run boldly, yes--but run consciously.

What 2026 brings for each Zodiac animal

Patrick’s annual readings offer a gentle lens through which to reflect on the energies of the year. Here’s a quick, high-level look at what each sign can expect:

Feng Shui expert Patrick Fernandez reminds us to ride the momentum of the Year of the Fire Horse with courage and intention.

RAT – You shine naturally this year. Authority grows, but so does the need for boundaries. Manage your energy, not just your time.

OX – Help arrives when you allow it. Support softens challenges, especially when tempers run high.

TIGER – Movement is your medicine. Travel or simple changes of scenery restore balance.

RABBIT – Gentle protection surrounds you. Prosperity grows slowly but steadily.

DRAGON – Delays happen, but problems hit softer than expected. Solitude helps, but don’t isolate.

SNAKE – Ethical effort pays off. Guard your health; your body will set your limits.

HORSE – Leadership is your gift this year. Stay steady, avoid unnecessary conflict and guard your physical safety.

GOAT – Collaboration brings flow. Stay visible but manage emotional fatigue.

MONKEY – Movement clears your mind; learning anchors your emotions.

ROOSTER – Social luck is strong. Just choose your engagements wisely.

DOG – As a Dog myself, I find comfort in knowing this is a year of completion. Projects finally come together — provided we stay patient, organized and mindful of details.

PIG – Kindness resets your path. Financial flow increases when you plug small leaks.

With the fates of our zodiac animals in 2026 in mind, the message is encouraging: there are openings for growth, as long as we stay grounded and aware.

A celebration rooted in tradition, community and guidance

If you’re looking for guidance for 2026, there’s our ever reliable Yin & Yang Shop of Harmony, a long-standing home of classical Feng Shui traditions. Its story spans decades, beginning with the Fernandez family’s passion for Chinese metaphysics -- a passion that Patrick now carries with both scholarship and sincerity.

Over the years, the shop has become both a cultural anchor and a guidepost for families, professionals and business owners seeking clarity at the start of each lunar cycle. It is, for many, a steadying place, one where tradition meets practical wisdom.

As we step into a year defined by fire, speed and awakening, I offer this gentle reminder: fortune is sweetest when paired with intention and luck is strongest when walked alongside effort.

After all, fire may propel us forward, but it is our awareness, patience and heart that determine where we land. Gong xi fa cai!
