Ricky Davao’s partner, Mayeth Malca, is grieving over the passing of the veteran actor and director.
On Instagram, Malca dedicated a lengthy message for her “dearest bubba,” sharing a photo of him holding a floral arrangement.
“You were the bravest and strongest person I have ever known. From the very beginning up to your last breath, I saw how fiercely you fought,” she wrote. “The best decision I have ever made in my life was to be with you and never leave your side all throughout.”
She recalled how Ricky would ask her if she was already tired, and she would always have one answer for him: “I will never get tired of taking care of you—because we are in this journey together.”
Malca said that Ricky made her believe in the idea of unconditional love.
“Through you, I discovered a deeper part of myself—a part capable of doing anything and everything because of love. Because of my love for you,” she said.
“Bubba, mahal na mahal kita sobra. Thank you—for your love, for your courage, for your trust, and for letting me walk with you through your most difficult days. I have to admit now… I lied when I told you I’d be okay. I lied when I said I’d be strong. Because the truth is, life doesn’t feel right without you.”
She now feels an “emptiness now that nothing can fill,” saying she misses Ricky more than words will ever be able to express.
“But I carry you with me, always. In my heart, in my memories, in every quiet moment.”
Malca ended her post by writing, “I love you forever, my man, my Bubba.”
Ricky passed away after facing complications related to cancer. His death was confirmed by his daughter, Ara, on social media on Friday evening. He was 63 years old.
With a career spanning over 40 years, Ricky is best known for his roles in “Abot Hanggang Sukdulan,” “Saranggola,” and “Ipaglaban Mo The Movie,” which earned him accolades from FAMAS, Gawad Urian, and the Metro Manila Film Festival, among others.
He married actress Jackie Lou Blanco in 1989, but the two separated later on.
