On May 1, 2025, the Philippine entertainment industry mourned the passing of veteran actor and director Ricky Davao at the age of 63.
His death, confirmed on May 2 by his immediate family, marked the end of a prolific career spanning over four decades.
Among those deeply affected is his daughter, Ara Davao, who is also carving her path in showbiz.
In a recent social media update, Ara expressed profound grief over the loss of her father, describing him as a "loving father, brother, son, and friend."
She wrote, "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Ricky Davao. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his children and loved ones, after bravely facing complications related to cancer.
"For more than four decades, he dedicated his life to the craft of acting and directing. His remarkable body of work and award-winning performances have left a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire. Most of all, he was a loving father, brother, son, and friend.
"We are deeply grateful for your prayers, love, and kind messages during this difficult time. Details about his memorial service will be shared soon."
Ara's sorrow is compounded by the recent passing of her grandmother, Pilita Corrales, on April 12, 2025. She reflected on the emotional toll of losing two significant family members in such a short span.
Ara is Ricky Davao's daughter with Jackie Lou Blanco. The former showbiz couple share two more children--RikkI Mae and Kenneth.
Despite the heartache, Ara remains committed to honoring her father's legacy through her work.
