MANILA, Philippines — Overseas Filipino workers returning from the Middle East can now register online to convert years of experience into academic credits for a college degree.
Repatriated OFWs can earn academic degrees through the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program.
Pre-assessment will be done through the ETEEAP National Registration and Onboarding for Lifelong Learning.
Launched by the Commission on Higher Education, the ENROLL online enlistment system will “improve employment readiness, enable career mobility and support the reintegration of OFWs into the local workforce through accessible and credible pathways to formal credentials,” CHED chairperson Shirley Agrupis said.
Displaced or repatriated OFWs, recent returnees and skilled workers with at least five years of experience are prioritized in the program, the CHED said.
Enlistment kiosks will be set up at state universities, colleges and private higher education institutions, offering on-site registration, pre-assessment and advising services, the commission noted.
As of February, 333 OFWs have graduated through ETEEAP, many of whom have earned promotions or secured better job opportunities, CHED data showed.
Meanwhile, Philippine Airlines is resuming flights between Manila and Riyadh effective April 10, following recent developments in the Middle East.
As Riyadh operations resume, PAL will temporarily operate through an alternate flight route to maintain safety standards.
Select Manila-Riyadh flights will include a brief technical stop in Bangkok for refueling, PAL noted. – Rudy Santos
