Citing a report from the local disaster risk reduction and management office, Valencia Mayor Edgar Teves Jr. said the search and rescue (SAR) team assigned in Amlan area found four foreigners at around 9:44 am on Saturday, March 22.

The foreigners were turned over to the medical team to get immediate medical attention. Later, the team advised to transfer the foreigners to the Negros Oriental provincial hospital for further medical evaluation and treatment.

“A night search and rescue operation were conducted in the mountains of Valencia and Amlan, with teams divided into two groups, the SAR team Malabo was tasked to cross and search the area traversing the direction to the hydro electric power plant in Amlan traversing the trail going to Malabo, Valencia,” the mayor explained.

On Wednesday, March 19, Valencia police said six foreigners went missing while trekking in the Negros Oriental town. Two of the foreigners – 63-year-old British Alexander Radbanyi and Torsten Martin Groschupp, 58-year-old German – were rescued on March 21.

According to local police, the foreigners went on a trek to the mountain located in Sitio Lunas in Barangay Malabo, around 8 am on Wednesday.
