Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Redmi A5 4G in Bangladesh, expanding its A-series lineup with a focus on affordability and essential features.
The Redmi A5 4G boasts a 6.88-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate, enhancing the visual experience for users. While the exact resolution hasn’t been confirmed, it’s anticipated to be a 720p+ LCD panel. The device features a notch housing an upgraded 8MP front camera, a step up from the previous 5MP units. For security, a side-mounted fingerprint reader is integrated.
On the rear, the smartphone is equipped with a 32MP main camera, a change from the 50MP sensors seen in earlier models. The camera setup includes AI capabilities, though specific functionalities remain unspecified.
Under the hood, the Redmi A5 4G is reportedly powered by the Unisoc T7250 chipset. This 4G-only processor comprises two Cortex-A75 cores (up to 1.8GHz) and six Cortex-A55 cores (1.6GHz), along with a Mali-G57 GPU (850MHz). This configuration offers performance comparable to the Helio G81 Ultra found in the A3 Pro but falls short of the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 in the A4, which also supports 5G connectivity.
The device is powered by a 5,200mAh battery, supporting 18W charging; however, it comes bundled with a 15W charger.
Variants and Pricing
The Redmi A5 4G is available in two configurations:
• 4GB RAM with 64GB storage: Priced at BDT 11,000 (approximately $90 or ₱5,000).
• 6GB RAM with 128GB storage: Priced at BDT 13,000 (approximately $106 or ₱5,900).
These pricing tiers align with those of the earlier Redmi A3 model. The A5 4G is offered in four distinct color options.
The Redmi A5 4G is positioned as an entry-level smartphone, catering to users seeking essential features without a hefty price tag. Notably, there are indications that this model may be rebranded as the “Poco C71” in select regions.
With its competitive pricing and balanced feature set, the Redmi A5 4G is poised to attract budget-conscious consumers looking for reliable performance and modern display capabilities.
