There’s a certain confidence that comes with knowing that your laptop won’t let you down. Each time I pick up the ASUS ExpertBook P5, I feel that reassurance over and over again. It’s this kind of trust and reliability – where you just know that your device is solid and ready to perform – that feels empowering.
ExpertSeries is ASUS’ line of devices designed for professionals. In the line, too, are devices for office setups such as towers, all-in-one PCs, and desktops. The ExpertBook P5 was built with people who are always on the go in mind.
I got to test the ASUS ExpertBook P5 (P5405), and there are things about this laptop that immediately impressed me and things that I found were low-key underrated.
The TL;DR here is that for about P85,000, this device is worth the price. It’s powerful enough to run artificial intelligence (AI) tools like Microsoft’s Copilot and the ASUS AI ExpertMeet. It’s built to be durable (you can lift the laptop from its screen or pour water on the keyboard). And it’s comfortable to work on.
Now, let’s get into the nitty-gritty, starting with its build quality.
Low profile, ergonomic, military tough

- Weight: 1.27 kg
- Dimensions (W x D x H): 31.20 cm x 22.32 cm x 1.49 cm
- Thinness: 14.9 mm
- Body: Aluminum
It’s safe to assume that its body was built with function and efficiency in mind. It has a sleek and minimalist design and not too many frills (i.e., it’s the kind of laptop you’ll bring to meetings or presentations).
What surprised me the most when I first held the laptop was how solid the laptop felt despite it being so lightweight at the same time. It’s also very thin. So much so that there have been times when I second-guessed whether I placed the laptop back into my bag before moving to my next meeting.

The 14-inch display isn’t a touchscreen, but it is a 2.5K 144 Hz anti-glare. This means that images are sharp, and navigating through apps and pages looks smooth. And honestly, I’d swap a good-quality display for a touchscreen any time.
Meanwhile, the keyboard and the touchpad look unassuming but are two of my favorite things about this laptop. I type a lot, and I type fast. And so I’m very picky when it comes to keyboards. But after endless hours of working on the ASUS ExpertBook P5, I’ve come to love how easy it is to use it. The keys feel amazing on my fingers. They’re spaced apart just right, and the keys have a satisfying bounce. And hey, did I mention that it’s spill-proof?
Another low-key feature I really like is how the laptop has most of its ports on the left side, so it doesn’t get in the way of your mouse if you like using one. Plus, it has two USB-A ports, so you don’t need to bring a hub if your hard or thumb drives aren’t USB-C yet.

Then there’s the hinge. Opening and closing this laptop just feels solid, and you’ll know what I’m talking about when you get to try it yourself. Flat on a table, the laptop’s chassis feels well-balanced, and you can, in fact, open it with just one finger.
What’s more is that the ExpertBook P5 has gone through military-grade testing where the laptop was subjected to environmental extremes, shocks, and jarring vibrations.
The Lunar Lake promise

Lunar Lake is among Intel’s latest Core Ultra chipsets. It’s supposed to introduce a massive leap towards performance, power efficiency, and AI computing. The ASUS ExpertBook P5 is among the first Lunar Lake machines to be released.
These are the specs of the review unit we received:
- OS: Windows 11 Pro
- CPU: Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 Processor 285V
- NPU: Intel® AI Boost NPU
- Integrated GPU: Intel® Arc™ 140V GPU
- Memory: 32GB LPDDR5X RAM
- Storage: 1TB M.2 2280 NVMe™ PCIe® 4.0 SSD
- Battery: 63 watt-hour
What this essentially represents is a laptop that is capable of multitasking and is power-efficient. To help paint a scenario, I’ve used this laptop with multiple Google Chrome tabs open, a page with a Canva project loaded up, and a tab with an ongoing Google Meet call. I’ve spent 12-hour workdays switching back and forth between these tabs and only receive a low-battery notification at around the 11th hour. Even then, I wouldn’t bother charging my laptop and it would still keep going.

I’ve also tried editing a video on this device. Light video editing, like working with 1080p footage on CapCut, is a breeze for the ASUS ExpertBook P5. I also imported an Adobe Premiere Pro project and scrubbed through 1080p footage and the laptop also handled that with ease. It took 3 minutes to export an eight-minute video with 1080p footage, graphics, and simple motion graphics through Adobe Premiere Pro. It did so without any fan noise, too. Not bad!
Scrubbing through 4K footage was a little sluggish, but that isn’t surprising. It’s hard to find a laptop within this price range that can handle 4K footage easily, so I don’t see this as a deal-breaker. Besides, you can always create proxy files to lessen the load on the computer’s processor.
ASUS first ever Copilot+ PC for work

While you probably won’t be editing documentaries on this device, what you will be able to do is enjoy a full suite of AI-enhanced productivity tools. After all, the ExpertBook P5 was built to be ASUS’ first-ever Copilot+ PC for work and also comes with ASUS AI ExpertMeet.
And having both Copilot and ASUS AI ExpertMeet already housed inside your laptop is also assuring. For one thing, I won’t have to rely on third-party apps anymore. I’ll be able to use AI tools knowing that they adhere to Microsoft’s security and privacy policies.
Copilot is also heavily integrated into other Microsoft apps. Here are some productivity hacks you can do with Copilot:
- Chat Copilot to ask questions, ask for ideas, and look up references
- Write up a document in Microsoft Word based on a meeting with data from another document
- Design an entire pitch deck on Microsoft PowerPoint using only a few prompts
- Analyze data and come up with insights on Microsoft Excel
- And more
What I really enjoyed, however, was the ASUS AI ExpertMeet. As someone who goes into a lot of meetings and does a lot of interviews, the AI ExpertMeet is just a handy tool that can help me sort and summarize a lot of information quickly.

AI Minute Meetings, for example, is a great way to record and transcribe meetings or interviews and use AI to generate a summary of the entire conversation. AI Translated Subtitles can provide live translations as you’re talking to someone in a foreign language. Similarly through Copilot, you can also use Live Captions when you’re streaming content spoken in a different language.
Oh, did I mention that you can also use AI ExpertMeet offline? Again, the fact that this was developed by ASUS rather than a third-party developer is reassuring for me because I won’t have to install yet another AI app on my device or pay for a subscription.
Other AI tools baked into the ASUS ExpertBook P5 are noise cancellation which is great for virtual meetings, AI Camera, and a Watermarking feature that places a watermark on content you present when you share your screen.
Who is this designed for?

The ASUS ExpertBook P5 is for you if your job involves extensive writing and research, slide creation, photo and video editing, as well as frequent travel between locations. I can easily imagine a virtual assistant, digital nomad, marketing executive, or even a journalist using this.
It’s a laptop that’s easy to carry around and easy to put your trust in.
