MANILA, Philippines — Yuchengco-led Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) has tapped Digital Edge (Singapore) Holdings Pte. Ltd. to migrate its production systems to NARRA1, the country’s largest operating true carrier-neutral data center.
The move forms part of RCBC’s effort to strengthen its digital infrastructure ahead of rising transaction volumes and evolving cybersecurity demands.
The strategic partnership, formalized during a ceremonial signing at RCBC Plaza in Makati, gathered top executives from both organizations led by RCBC president and CEO Reggie Cariaso, chief information officer John Alabastro, Digital Edge Philippines president and CEO Vic Barrios and Threadborne Group chairman Charlie Rufino.
The collaboration aligns with RCBC’s 2026 digital roadmap, which centers on operational resilience, high-availability systems and enhanced compliance across mission-critical environments.
The shift to NARRA1 gives the bank access to a modern, high-density data center built to support increasing digital workloads and stringent regulatory requirements.
As the local financial sector moves deeper into AI adoption, hybrid cloud expansion and tighter security controls, RCBC is reinforcing its core systems to maintain stable, always-available digital banking services.
“Digital Edge’s operational track record, sustainability-centered engineering expertise and commitment to security made them the right partner for us,” Alabastro said. “We have selected NARRA1 because it offers both the technical capacity and environmental efficiency needed by a modern, fast-scaling bank like ours.”
Digital Edge’s NARRA1 facility features a Tier 3 carrier-neutral design with 100 percent dual-power redundancy that shields institutions from outages and operational disruptions, RCBC said.
Its security protocols meet banking-sector benchmarks, while its energy-efficient, renewable-powered infrastructure supports sustainability targets increasingly prioritized by regulators and financial institutions.
The setup positions RCBC to scale mission-critical workloads securely and efficiently.
“We are seeing a decisive shift in the Philippine financial sector as institutions strengthen their resilience, modernize legacy systems and move toward hybrid and cloud-ready environments,” Barrios said.
“RCBC’s decision to place its production workloads in NARRA1 reflects this momentum and validates our commitment to providing banking-grade infrastructure built for security, uptime and high-density performance. We are ready to support RCBC and the broader financial community as they advance their digital capabilities and prepare for future growth,” Barrios added.
