MANILA, Philippines – Former president Rodrigo Duterte was arrested on Tuesday, March 11, over crimes against humanity, becoming the first former Philippine head of state to be arrested by an international tribunal.
Duterte was arrested through a warrant of arrest issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC), coursed through the Interpol. Although the Philippines was not an ICC member-state, the Philippine government acknowledged its obligation with the Interpol.
