EASILY one of the best places to visit in Tarlac but is often taken for granted despite its numerous potentials is Ramos, dubbed the province's wedding capital.
Ramos, formerly named Bani, was a barrio of Paniqui town from 1878 to Dec. 31, 1920. On Jan. 1, 1921, Bani became a town and was renamed Ramos in memory of Gov. Alfonso Ramos who first initiated the creation of the town.
The town's current mayor, Celso Banag, is keen on introducing the municipality to the outside world.
Banag always dreamed of seeing his hometown's progress.
The mayor, now almost 75 years old, is realizing that dream.

"We could have reached the third-class category but we don't want to jump one step on the ladder. We like to bite one chunk at a time," Banag told The Manila Times on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
Banag announced the ongoing and future projects under his administration.
On Jan. 23, the town signaled the start of construction of its public auditorium, realized through the effort of First District Rep. Jaime Cojuangco who joined Banag and municipal officials and employees for its groundbreaking.
Banag said the facility will become the center of public activities in town such as meetings, conferences, and cultural festivities.
"This auditorium is a symbol of unity and progress. This is not a mere building; this is a heritage that will empower our community," said Banag
The project is only one of the many endeavors undertaken by the Banag administration as the municipal government maintains its advocacy of prioritizing infrastructure, social services, and cooperation toward a sustainable future.
Included in the priority programs are those in livelihood, education, and environment protection in coordination with various sectors of society for the benefit of all the Ramosenians.
Another significant program is the introduction of St. Therese of the Child Jesus Cathedral dubbed as the "Wedding Capital of Tarlac" due to its rich history and a courageous priest who was installed in the town.
Banag joined Vice President Sara Duterte in the list of godparents for the wedding of couples Dante and Angie at the cathedral on Jan. 19.
"It was an awe-inspiring experience to stand beside the vice president and become her kumpare for the wedding," he said.
Banag more plans were lined up for the development of Ramos.
