MANILA, Philippines — The shear line will continue to bring heavy rains and possible flooding in eastern Visayas and parts of Mindanao, while the northeast monsoon is expected to cause light rains in other parts of the country, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration.
PAGASA said the low-pressure area previously monitored as Bagyong Ada in the Mindanao Sea has dissipated, and no typhoons or low-pressure areas are currently affecting the Philippine area of responsibility.
Despite this, satellite imagery shows dense clouds over Visayas and Mindanao, driven by the shear line, which is forecast to bring 50 to 100 millimeters of rainfall in Eastern Samar, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Davao Oriental and Davao de Oro. Flooding and landslides may occur in low-lying, urban or coastal areas.
Scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms are also expected in Caraga, Davao Region, Soccsksargen, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental and parts of Central Visayas, while the rest of Luzon and Visayas will experience cloudy skies with light rains due to the northeast monsoon.
Metro Manila is forecast to have partly cloudy skies with isolated light rains, with temperatures ranging from 22 to 30 degrees Celsius, while Baguio City may record temperatures between 12 and 23 degrees Celsius.
PAGASA also warned of rough seas in the eastern Visayas and Mindanao coasts, with waves between 2.8 and 4.0 meters, advising small sea vessels to exercise caution. Moderate to strong winds are expected in northern and eastern Luzon, as well as in other coastal areas, with rough to moderate seas.
The agency said the shear line and northeast monsoon are expected to persist over the next few days, bringing cloudy skies and isolated rains in key cities including Metro Manila, Baguio, Cebu, Iloilo, Tacloban, Davao, Cagayan Valley, Bicol Region and other parts of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
Temperatures are forecast to remain cool, particularly at night and early morning.
