MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government has acquired an additional eight electric buses for its free rides program.
Mayor Joy Belmonte yesterday unveiled the new electric buses, which will ply Route 6 (Quezon City Hall to Gilmore via Tomas Morato) of the QCity bus program starting on May 11.
The acquisition supplements the eight electric buses servicing Route 1 (Quezon City Hall to Cubao) of the program.
According to an earlier statement of the local government, the electric buses have a seating capacity of 41, with additional space for a limited number of standing passengers.
The bus, which has lower floors for easier access, is equipped with wheelchair ramps, handrails, fire suppression and emergency equipment, closed-circuit television cameras as well as free WiFi.
City hall previously said the program is aligned with its enhanced local climate change action plan.
The QCity Bus has eight routes connecting major areas in the city.
