MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government is providing assistance to the family of slain motorcycle taxi rider Fabio Norberte Jr.
Norberte was stabbed to death by his passenger on July 14 in Caloocan.
“We are deeply saddened by the killing while he was earning a living as a ride-hailing app driver,” city hall said.
“The Quezon City government will monitor the investigation into this case and coordinate with appropriate agencies to ensure that those responsible are held accountable and that justice is served for Norberte and his family,” city hall added.
Secretary to the Cabinet Benhur Abalos earlier visited the wake of Norberte, who is a Quezon City resident.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development also provided aid to the family.
Sen. Bong Go has extended financial aid to Norberte’s family.
Go’s staff informed them that medical aid could be facilitated for Norberte’s three-year-old son, who has autism.
Norberte’s child is now orphaned, since his mother had died almost a month after his birth.
Go also condoled with the family of Ren Ren de Laviga, another motorcycle taxi rider killed by his passenger on July 9 in Carmona, Cavite.
Go denounced the attacks as an affront to the dignity of Filipinos who endure difficult working conditions to provide for their families.
