LUBAO, Pampanga, Philippines — Angelo Que stormed ahead in the ICTSI Pradera Verde Championship with a masterful 68, seizing a three-shot advantage over Keanu Jahns, Jaehyun Jung, Carl Corpus and Christopher Popp at the brand new Pinatubo course yesterday.

The latest addition to the 36-hole Pradera Verde golf complex is hosting a tournament of this scale for the first time since its unveiling late last year.

Que, a three-time Asian Tour winner, relied on meticulous planning to navigate the demanding course.

“It’s all about strategy,” said Que.

Jahns, a long hitter, settled for a 71 while Corpus, coming off a runner-up finish in last week’s PGT Q-School at Splendido Taal, salvaged a share of second.

Popp matched Corpus’ three-birdie, two-bogey round, while Josh Jorge and Toru Nakajima posted identical 72s for joint sixth in the P2.5 million championship sponsored by ICTSI and organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc.

In the women’s side, Daniella Uy seized a commanding three-shot lead with a four-under 68, and with rising star Tiffany Lee lurking and the unpredictable course proving to be a relentless test, the battle for the title remains wide open.

Uy surged ahead with a string of three consecutive birdies from No. 12. Lee closed out with a one-under 71.

Mikha Fortuna and Samantha Bruce posted identical 72s while Sarah Ababa stumbled late to finish for a 73.
