MANILA, Philippines — Quezon City Police District chief Col. Randy Glenn Silvio, who supervised and solved two recent high-profile cases, has been promoted to a one-star general.
Silvio and seven other colonels – Edwin Balles, Romano Cardino, Francisco Ebreo, Berniel Gotoman, Julio Lizardo, Romy Palgue and Angela Rejano – who were promoted to brigadier general yesterday.
A member of the Philippine National Police Academy Class of 1997, Silvio is one of the officials who led the investigation of the murder of S/Sgt. Diane Marie Mollenido and her eight-year-old son John Ysmael.
Four people have been arrested in relation to the case, including couple Christian and Pia Katrina Panganiban who were tagged as the masterminds.
Silvio also led the search for bride-to-be Sherra de Juan, whose disappearance last December drew national attention.
Three weeks after she was last seen in Barangay North Fairview, De Juan was found in Mangaldan, Pangasinan. She has since reunited with her family and fiancé, Mark Arjay Reyes.
As chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-National Capital Region field unit, Silvio led the investigation of the missing cockfight aficionados or sabungeros.
He also held posts as chief of the directorial staff of the Southern Police District and director of the Laguna police.
