VICTORIAS, Negros Occidental — Farm Fresh libero Maicah Larroza played inspired in front of her family from Bacolod, helping the Foxies finish the PVL on Tour on a high note in Victorias City.
Larroza provided a steady floor defense for the Foxies, who pulled off a come-from-behind 20-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-12, 15-10 win over Capital1 on Saturday at Victorias City Coliseum here.
“I was really excited to play because my whole family was here. It was also a chance for me to show them what I’ve been working hard on in Manila. I’m really grateful that we got to play here in Victorias,” said Larroza in Filipino.
Her mom, dad, sisters, aunts, and cousins watched Larroza live, with her defense helping spikers Trisha Tubu, Ces Molina, and Ara Galang deliver the goods.
Japanese coach Koji Tsuzurabara, who also returned to Negros Island 21 years after he coached the Myanmar men’s volleyball team in the 2005 Southeast Asian Games in Bacolod, praised his three-year professional player.
“This is Maicah’s home, and she delivered a good performance,” Tsuzurabara said.
Larroza’s heart is full over a rare chance to bring her family to watch her PVL game, getting a source of inspiration before the Invitationals begin on August 31.
“I’m really thankful that our final PVL On Tour game was held here. Now we just have to get ready for the Invitational Conference because it will be more challenging with the international teams joining,” Larroza said.
