Businessman Jonathan Ng will receive the Executive of the Year award for the second straight season for his astute management of the well-loved Creamline squad, which returned to the top of the Premier Volleyball League following one of the franchise’s most difficult campaigns in recent memory.
Ng, vice chairman and chief executive officer of the Republic Biscuit Corporation Group of Food Companies, will be honored during the 2nd Pilipinas Live PVL Press Corps Awards Night on May 30 at Novotel Manila Araneta City in Cubao.
The longtime Creamline backer topped the voting with nine total points, including 4.8 points from league coaches and team captains and 4.2 points from members of the media covering the Sports Vision-organized professional league.
He finished ahead of PLDT executive Jude Turcuato and ZUS Coffee executive Frank Lao in the annual awards event supported by Immuni+ and Rebisco.
Ng has overseen Creamline’s rise into the PVL’s most successful modern-era franchise.
But Creamline endured an uncharacteristic stretch last season.
The Cool Smashers settled for bronze-medal finishes in both the 2025 PVL on Tour and Invitational conferences before suffering a deeper setback in the Reinforced Conference, where the team finished sixth and saw its streak of 19 consecutive semifinal appearances come to an end.
Despite the disappointing run and questions surrounding the veteran-laden roster, Ng continued to back the franchise that has become synonymous with winning in the league.
Creamline eventually responded with another championship run in the 2026 All-Filipino Conference.
Bannered by Jia De Guzman, Jema Galanza, Bernadeth Pons and Dij Rodriguez, the Cool Smashers survived a tougher and more competitive field, overcoming several do-or-die situations before sweeping Cignal in the finals to capture their 11th league title.
The latest championship added another milestone to a franchise that has remained one of the league’s model organizations under Ng’s leadership.
