MANILA, Philippines — National Artist for Film and Broadcast Nora Aunor will be honored with a state necrological service on Tuesday, April 22.
Organized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), the ceremony will take place at the Metropolitan Theater (The Met) in Manila. Traditionally held at the CCP, the venue was moved due to the center's ongoing renovations.
In a press statement, CCP detailed that arrival honors will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by a tribute program at 9 a.m. The state funeral rites will continue at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City.
The two-hour program at The Met will feature eulogies from Ian de Leon, National Artist Ricky Lee, Charo Santos Concio and director Joel Lamangan.
The public can attend the necrological service, seating inside The Met is limited. Registration for those who wish to attend is now open via ticketmelon.com.

The event will also be livestreamed via the CCP and NCCA Facebook pages for those unable to attend in person.
Aunor, the country's "Superstar" whose career spanned over five decades, was conferred the Order of National Artist (Orden ng Pambansang Alagad ng Sining) by the Office of the President in 2022. The Order of National Artist is the highest national recognition given to Filipino individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of Philippine arts.
