CEBU CITY — A 24-year-old man was stabbed to death by two of his friends in Sitio Nangka, Barangay Luz, on Monday night.
The victim was identified as Ian Vanlor Lumapas, a resident of the area, who was reportedly an asset to the local police, providing information on illegal activities in the neighborhood.
According to Police Maj. Romeo Caacoy Jr., the victim was at an internet café before the attack.
After leaving the café, Lumapas was approached by two men, later identified as his friends — Stephen Felizarta alias "Bilon" and Allen Edward Felices alias "Bontoy." Both men are residents of Barangay Luz.
"Bilon" and "Bontoy" allegedly stabbed Lumapas multiple times and fled the scene.

Neighbors have suggested that drugs could be behind the fatal assault.
Lumapas was rushed to Perpetual Succour Hospital, but he was declared dead on arrival.
The incident was reported to Mabolo Police Station by the victim's wife. Authorities then reviewed CCTV footage, which helped them identify the suspects.
Initial investigations revealed that Felizarta and Felices were involved in illegal drug activities and both had been previously incarcerated.
A hot-pursuit operation is ongoing as police search for the suspects, who are believed to have fled the area.
The motive behind the stabbing is suspected to be linked to illegal drugs, but investigators are also examining Lumapas' relationship with the suspects and any potential involvement in their prior arrests.
