MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police has strengthened its cooperation with the government of Israel to boost the operational capabilities of PNP units.
The partnership focuses on intelligence sharing, modernization of police training programs and adoption of best practices in public safety and community policing.
It was discussed during a meeting between acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez and Israeli Ambassador Dana Kursh at Camp Crame on Tuesday.
During the meeting, Nartatez said they identified practical initiatives for intelligence sharing, personnel exchanges and joint training programs to enhance delivery of services to the public.
Through collaborations with Israel and other countries, Nartatez said the PNP aims to strengthen the capabilities of police units in crime prevention, emergency response and overall community safety.
“Our ultimate goal is safety of the community and quick response to crime incidents and other public safety concerns,” Nartatez said.
Having a modernized PNP enhances the country’s capacity to address security challenges while ensuring public safety, he said.
Nartatez said the PNP’s engagement with Israel would serve as a model for expanding collaboration with other allied nations to strengthen the police force’s operational efficiency.
