MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño has been designated chief of the Western Visayas police, the PNP said yesterday.

Tuaño replaced Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan, who was reassigned to the PNP directorate for operations at Camp Crame.

PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. yesterday led a turnover ceremony installing Tuaño to his new post.

As Western Visayas police director, Tuaño has operational and administrative supervision over police units in the provinces of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras and Iloilo as well as Iloilo City.

Aside from having served as spokesman and chief of the PNP Information Office, Tuaño has handled key positions in the police force including deputy director for administration of the PNP Finance Service and chief of the General Mariano Alvarez police in Cavite.

Col. Allen Rae Co, former chief of the Baguio City police, replaced Tuaño as PNP spokesman.
