MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Bank (PNB) is expanding access to key government services for overseas Filipinos after securing regulatory clearance to host on-site assistance sessions for the Social Security System (SSS) and Pag-IBIG Fund in its Japan branches.
In a statement, the bank said SSS and Pag-IBIG would be allowed to conduct client assistance, information and orientation sessions within PNB’s Tokyo and Nagoya offices, enabling Filipinos in Japan to access membership, contribution and benefit-related services more easily.
The initiative allows government representatives to directly engage with overseas Filipinos in a “trusted and accessible banking environment,” addressing long-standing challenges in accessing Philippine social protection services abroad.
“This engagement reflects PNB’s broader mandate of serving overseas Filipinos through sustainable and well-coordinated service channels,” PNB first senior vice president and head of the international banking and remittance group Muffet Flores-Caculitan said.
“It enables stronger collaboration among institutions that play a vital role in protecting the welfare of global Filipinos. By facilitating continued participation in key Philippine welfare programs, we support individual financial security while also contributing to national development,” she said.
Under the arrangement, PNB will provide rent-free space or tables within its branches for SSS and Pag-IBIG activities, allowing on-site services and outreach programs for Filipino communities in Japan.
Roderick Enriquez, managing director of PNB Tokyo, said the move is expected to improve convenience for overseas Filipinos seeking government services.
“This is an important step in bringing critical Philippine government services closer to our kababayans in Japan,” Enriquez said. “By hosting SSS and Pag-IBIG activities within PNB branches, global Filipinos gain convenient access to information and assistance that support their financial protection and long-term security all within a familiar and trusted banking environment.”
