PlayStation Network Restored After 24-Hour Outage, No Explanation From Sony

1 month ago 9

Sony’s PlayStation Network (PSN) went offline for nearly 24 hours, marking its first major outage of the year.

The disruption, which began on February 8, 2025, at 7:12 AM (PHT), affected players worldwide before services were finally restored at 7:49 AM on February 9.

Sony confirmed the restoration via its Japanese and US PlayStation accounts, with all services now listed as operational on the PSN Service Status page.

Reports of login and connection issues on Downdetector have also significantly dropped.

Despite the scale of the outage, Sony has not disclosed any reason for the disruption, only issuing a brief apology.

The lack of transparency has raised concerns among users, with speculation that a cyberattack may have been involved.

Many have taken to social media to demand compensation, especially since the downtime occurred on a weekend.

Adding to the frustration, the outage coincided with the second Monster Hunter Wilds beta, which was set to run from February 7-10.

PlayStation 5 players effectively lost a full day of the event. Capcom has acknowledged the situation but has yet to announce any form of compensation for affected players.

For now, PSN services remain stable, but Sony has yet to provide further details on what caused the outage or if any additional steps will be taken to prevent future disruptions.
