MANILA, Philippines — Starting on May 18, terminal fees for public utility vehicles (PUV) at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) will be free for three months, the Department of Transportation announced yesterday. DOTr Secretary Giovanni Lopez recommended the suspension of terminal fees to help ease the burden of PUV operators due to rising fuel prices.
“The President’s instruction is to continue helping PUV operators and drivers,” Lopez said.
“This initiative is a big help to them because they will be able to save on terminal fees that they can use to load fuel or pay for other expenses,” he added.
The free terminal fees cover all PUVs using PITX, including provincial buses, city buses, modern public utility jeepneys, traditional jeepneys, UV Express vehicles and taxis.
Based on terminal fees per PUV onboarding, provincial buses pay P100 while city buses and UV Express pay P20.
The terminal fee for public utility jeeps, modern jeepneys and taxis is P10.
The initiative will last for three months, but may be extended depending on the assessment of the DOTr.
