MANILA, Philippines — Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from Middle East countries affected by the US-Iran conflict have arrived in the Philippines, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said.

In separate statements, the DMW said that OFWs arrived from Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

The agency said that there are 343 Filipinos who arrived from Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, who landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Sunday, March 15.

This has been the second chartered flight from Philippine Airlines for OFWs stuck in the Middle East, according to the DMW.

Twenty-six OFWs from Qatar who are voluntary repatriates arrived early morning on Sunday.

As of March 14, the DMW said that there has been a total of 1,315 individuals affected by the Middle East conflict who are stranded or repatriated and have been assisted.

The agency said that 1,022 OFWs among the 1,315 individuals are OFWs, while 293 are dependents.

Security for tens of thousands of Filipino nationals in the Middle East has reached a critical point following military escalations between Iran and the US.

After a series of strikes killed Iranian leaders, Tehran’s retaliatory drone and missile attacks on the host countries of U.S. bases have prompted hundreds of Filipinos to seek immediate passage home to escape the mounting violence.
