MANILA, Philippines — A Filipino seafarer will pay a fine of P10,000 for making a bomb joke on May 26 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2.
Bound for Butuan City, the 26-year-old seafarer had claimed that his bag contained a bomb.
Presiding Judge Jose Janello Covarrubias of the Metropolitan Trial Court Branch 47 found the man guilty of violating the Anti-Bomb Joke Law.
“Reckless people who make bomb-related jokes will eventually realize that their actions have serious legal consequences,” Brig. Gen. Dionisio Bartolome Jr., director of the police Aviation Security Group, said.
