"24 Oras Weekend" news anchors Pia Arcangel and Ivan Mayrina guested on Friday's "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" where they shared how they dealt with bribery attempts when they were young reporters.

Tito Boy first asked them why they aren't allowed to accept gifts as journalists, with Pia explaining that it's "an extra measure to ensure being unbiased."

The award-winning Kapuso broadcast journalists were then asked by the King of Talk if someone had attempted to bribe them before, to which they answered in the affirmative.

According to Ivan, he experienced this when he was a young reporter.

"Congressman 'to. I had a bag and then biglang sinaksak niya, big stash of cash, sinaksak niya sa bag ko and then when I was trying to refuse, parang nagmura pa siya, nagalit, na-offend or something," he recalled.

"So, inuwi ko, diretso sa admin, and then I declared that I was given this money by this certain politician. Sinoli ng GMA."

Pia also recalled a similar experience when she was a young reporter in the province, although it wasn't as intense as Ivan's.

"Hindi ganun kalaki na stash siya," she said. "I guess it's easier maybe to hand off to young reporters, but I was also a young reporter sa probinsya, Tito Boy. It was after a presscon, inaabutan kami, but I was just quick to say no."

"Hindi naman nila pinilit kasi marami, I guess baka kasi marami naman ibang tao, so they didn't force the issue," she added.

"24 Oras Weekend" marked its 15th anniversary in February. Aside from Pia and Ivan, the newscast is also hosted by Nelson Canlas.

It airs every Saturday and Sunday at 5:30 p.m. on GMA Network.
