MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration has exchanged knowledge on human trafficking and transnational crimes with a high-level delegation from Saudi Arabia.

Representatives from the Saudi Arabian government arrived in Manila on July 1 for a five-day study visit.

Welcoming delegates at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 in Pasay, Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado presented interdiction procedures, anti-trafficking strategies and inter-agency referral mechanisms used to combat trafficking.

The delegation’s visit will help boost the country’s border protection, Viado said.

Organized under a United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime project, the visit aims to promote international cooperation in preventing, suppressing and prosecuting trafficking in persons.
