MANILA, Philippines — Demand for Australian grapes is steadily growing in the Philippines as a new season begins.

Australian Table Grapes Association chief executive officer Jeff Scott graced a Taguig event last April to open the 2025-2026 grape season in the Philippines.

He did note that some of the company's grapes have already hit the market for the new season like Autumn Criso, Midnight Beauty, Sunrise Red, and Sweet Sapphire, all of them offering health benefits like richness in potassium and Vitamin C.

Scott recounted the origins of the Philippine market, which back then was underdeveloped but he still saw the country's potential, energy, and appetite.

The executive credited retail and consumer relationships for driving the growth in the Philippines, especially with many varieties of premium Australian grapes now available.

In fact, the speed of Filipino consumers surprised Scott at how much they now know, adding that the Philippines — alongside South Korea — is slowly challenging Japan to become the third-largest exporter of its grapes.

International Marketing Manager Jesse White echoed Scott's remarks, calling the Philippines an important as he thanked retail partners and importers.

White added that the Philippines is enthusiastic for Australian grapes, praising the genuine food culture of the country and Filipinos' real curiosity to try new experiences.

Later this May, the Philippines and Australia will commemorate 80 years of diplomatic relations, Australia being one of the Philippines' first bilateral partners upon the latter fully achieving its independence from the United States in 1946.
