MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine team won 12 medals in the 2026 Stemco International Science competition in Singapore.
The 12-member delegation secured four silvers, five bronzes and three honorable mentions in the 11-country contest.
At least 200 students from Singapore, the Philippines, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Serbia, Thailand, Myanmar, Mongolia, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan participated in the contest last month.
The Indonesian team won six gold medals, while Kazakstan received four and Serbia, two.
The non-government Mathematics Trainers’ Guild Phils. (MTG) trained the Filipino delegates from various public and private schools across the country.
Simon Chua, MTG head, said the country’s silver medalists were Sean Jacob Ong of Grace Christian College, Anneliese Mirella Raymundo of Lucas Pascual Memorial Elem. School, Oakley Jacob Sebastian of Zamboanga Chong Hua High School, and Amanda Adria Maxine of St. Jude Catholic School.
The bronze medal winners were Charlene Daniella Pua of St. Jude Catholic School, Thea Lauryn Morada of Colegio San Agustin Makati, Andre Gerard Yang of Sacred Heart School, Shiv Francis Theodore Marabe of Stonyhurst Southville International School Batangas, and Gael Brian Anthony Sze of Xavier School San Juan.
Sophia Anne Mallari of St. Paul College Pasig, Ethan Ray Ladaga of Sacred Heart School and Darlene Clarisse Pua of St. Jude Catholic School received honorable mentions.
Zamboanga Chong Hua High School science teacher Krystel Rose Sta. Teresa led the Philippine delegation.
