Philippine Airlines (PAL) said that Flight PR102 from Manila to Los Angeles was diverted to Haneda Airport in Tokyo, after initial findings indicated smoke emitting from one of its two air conditioning units.
According to PAL, the Boeing 777 aircraft, with registry number RPC 7782, carrying 355 passengers, landed safely at Haneda Airport on Thursday, April 10.
The airline noted that passengers currently remain on board while they work closely with airport authorities in Haneda to ensure a smooth and safe disembarkation.
PAL added that they are in full coordination with Philippine government authorities through the office of the Department of Transportation Secretary and local airport authorities in Haneda.
The airline said they will provide updates as soon as more information becomes available regarding the situation and the next steps for the affected passengers.
