“This is for employers, self-employed and business people with missed premium contributions starting July 2013 up to December 2024,” PhilHealth senior vice president for health finance policy sector Israel Pargas said at the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon program yesterday.

MANILA, Philippines — Employers with missed premium contributions can start applying for the granting of waiver of interest on Jan. 24, according to the Philippine Health Insurance Corp.

“This is for employers, self-employed and business people with missed premium contributions starting July 2013 up to December 2024,” PhilHealth senior vice president for health finance policy sector Israel Pargas said at the Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon program yesterday.

He said employers will be processed for now. A separate policy for the self-employed will be issued.

There are currently 300,000 registered employers with missed premium contributions that will be covered by this waiver of interest.

Pargas emphasized that the granting of the waiver of interest is not automatic.

“They need to apply first, and they have to comply with the three conditions set by PhilHealth,” he said.

First, Pargas said the employer should make sure that all the information on his/her employees are updated, including the company profile.

“Second, this is not just settling of accounts, but also making sure that the employees are able to enjoy sufficient benefits from PhilHealth. That is why we require companies to have their employees registered in primary clinics or YAKAP clinics,” he said.

The third condition is complete documentation, such as a letter of request and a certification that the company has no ongoing litigation cases.

Pargas said the prescriptive period for granting of amnesty for interest of employers with unpaid contributions will be until the end of the year.
