TACLOBAN CITY — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Eastern Visayas destroyed some P400 million worth of drugs and marijuana using a crematorium in Barangay Campetic, Palo, Leyte.
PDEA Regional Director Bryan Babang supervised the drugs destruction which was witnessed by Southern Leyte Board Member Virgilio Mortera, Public Attorney's Office 8 Regional Director Vevelyn Monsanto, Eastern Visayas Media Without Borders President Miriam Desacada-Maderazo, broadcaster Carlo Sarino and Col. Dennis Jose Llavore.

Babang said they burned 58 kilos of shabu worth P400,724,252.96 seized at the Port of Liloan, Southern Leyte. The illegal drugs came from Mindanao. Also burned were marijuana worth P13,476 and expired medicines worth P9,876.
The destruction order was issued by a court and approved by the Dangerous Drugs Board, according to Babang.
Meanwhile, Southern Leyte Board Member Virgilio Mortera lauded the continues intensified anti-drugs drive.

He said the provincial government of Southern Leyte will provide a K-9 dog to help the PDEA in its anti-drugs drive as there are now four ports in Southern Leyte.
