MANILA, Philippines — After lotto ticket prices rose to P25 from P20, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has seen a 38.3-percent year-on-year increase in lotto sales.

With higher jackpot prizes, public participation became stronger and interest in state-operated lotto games has been sustained, the PCSO said.

From Feb. 1 to 7, lotto sales reached P413.827 million, up from P299.172 million during the same period last year.

Lotto tickets sold increased by 10.7 percent year-on-year over the same period.

The PCSO implemented the enhanced prize structure on Feb. 1.

“By offering bigger prizes right from the start, we are making lotto games more exciting and rewarding while ensuring the system remains fair, transparent and sustainable,” PCSO general manager Melquiades Robles said.

“Higher sales also mean a high degree of confidence by the betting public in the Philippine lottery system,” Robles added.
