MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard said a joint PCG-Manila and Bureau of Immigration intelligence division-special response team operation led to the arrest of four Taiwanese from a vessel off the vicinity waters of the Pasay reclamation development project on Thursday.
The PCG said the operation was conducted following the grounding of M/Y Marauder on June 3.
According to the PCG, its subsequent maritime patrols and monitoring activities found that the vessel conducted improper waste disposal operations, which led to a boarding inspection and the issuance of an enforcement inspection apprehension report.
The boarding officers coordinated with the Bureau of Immigration for status verification. The BI later confirmed that the four Taiwanese were classified as undesirable aliens and subject to immigration proceedings.
The four were turned over to the BI for proper processing and biometric identification.
