MANILA, Philippines–San Miguel Corporation sports director Alfrancis Chua took exception to the way Yeng Guiao called him out, triggering a heated exchange between the two fiery personalities during Game 4 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup semifinals between Rain or Shine and Barangay Ginebra.

“Trabaho na lang siya, mag-coach na lang siya (He should just work and stick to coaching),” Chua said.

The two had separate altercations during the first quarter and after the Elasto Painters secured a 97-85 win in front of 14,000 fans at Smart Araneta Coliseum, stemming from Guiao’s annoyance over the way Chua was arguing his case to the officials.

Guiao later claimed that Chua responded with some choice words.

But Chua retorted that Guiao should just worry about what he should worry about.

“I don’t meddle with his team, and he should not meddle with our team. He should focus on his team,” Chua said. “He even meddles with how the governors should act.”

The incident added more spice to the semifinal series, which is now tied at 2-2 and effectively turned into a best-of-three affair.

Ironically, the two are longtime friends and key figures in the Basketball Coaches Association of the Philippines.
