MANILA, Philippines — Actress and businesswoman Neri Naig-Miranda has been cleared of syndicated estafa and violations of the Securities Regulation Code after the Pasay City courts dismissed all charges against her.

The news was shared by her husband, Parokya Ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda, through a statement on his Instagram account on Tuesday, March 4.

"Thank you, Lord. It's really a good thing that the Lord knows the whole truth, which is why He never abandoned Neri. We are so blessed because the people who matter also knew the truth and did everything they could to help and support her. We are so thankful that she was eventually given the chance to defend herself and share her side of the story," Miranda wrote as translated in English.

"Neri is such a kind and trustworthy person, and those who know her, know that. Everyone also knows how hardworking she is. The only problem sometimes is that she's too kind and helpful, which is why she often gets taken advantage of and hurt," he continued.

"But despite that, I am so proud because Neri would always choose to be kind and fair, no matter how mean and unfair the world is, and no matter what the world throws at her, her integrity and her good character will always remain intact. To those who chose to stand up and defend my wife, thank you so much," Miranda added.

The band vocalist also shared the press statement from FLO Attorneys-at-Law which shows the ruling of Regional Trial Court (RTC) of Pasay City dismissing all pending cases against the actress related to the Dermacare /Beyond Skin Care Solutions scheme. The reinvestigation concluded that there was no probable cause to proceed with the charges.

In its Feb. 12 order, the court pointed out significant flaws in the original case against Miranda. Branch 112 of RTC Pasay found that the private complainants failed to provide evidence of being defrauded by Miranda, stating that they never alleged having personally transacted or handed over money to her.

Acting Presiding Judge Ronald August Tan, who issued the dismissal order, commented in his decision: "Order: "Glaringly, the private complainants never alleged being defrauded by [Miranda]...More mind- boggling is that private complainants never asserted having personally transacted with or handed over money to [Miranda]....Therefore, the evidence presented indeed fails to establish that [Miranda] committed the crime of Estafa, moreso, Syndicated Estafa."

In an earlier decision from Jan. 20, 2025, Acting Presiding Judge Gina Bibat-Palamos of RTC Pasay City Branch 111 also dismissed the complaints against Miranda concerning violations of the Securities Regulation Code (Republic Act No. 8799).

"We thank the courts for clearing the name of Neri Miranda, who has unmistakably been falsely accused of wrongdoing in the Dermacare case. We hope that this issue will be put to rest as regards to Neri, so that instrumentalities of the law can focus on bringing the true perpetrators of the Dermacare scam to justice," said lawyer Aureli Sinsuat of FLO Attorneys-at-Law, co-counsel for Neri Miranda.

The charges stemmed from the Dermacare/Beyond Skin Care Solutions case, in which Miranda was initially arrested on Nov. 23, 2024. The arrest was widely reported, with talent manager Ogie Diaz sharing the news in a YouTube vlog, and the Southern Police District confirming the details on their official Facebook page. After her capture, Miranda's legal team filed for a reinvestigation, which ultimately led to the dismissal of all charges.
