ILOILO CITY, Philippines — The alleged family of the Chinese woman linked to the kidnap-slay of steel magnate Anson Que was arrested in Boracay Island on April 25.
Western Visayas police chief Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky said Liang Jianhua, 40, and Gong ZongLian, 38, of Sta. Cruz, Manila, were about to board a hired helicopter in Boracay when police authorities arrested them for falsification of legal documents and concealing their true identities.
Wanky said the two are believed to be the parents of Wenli Gong, a suspect in the kidnapping and murder of Filipino-Chinese businessman Anson Que and his driver Armanie Pabillo.
“We’re still checking on the information if they are indeed Gong’s parents as they’re just 40 and 38 years old,” he said.
During their arrest, the couple was with three young boys who are believed to be Gong’s sons.
Wanky said Gong, the children and the couple arrived in Boracay on April 10, a day after the bodies of Que and his driver were found in Rodriguez, Rizal.
They paid around P.5 million to a travel agency to arrange their travel, stay and activities in the island.
They were supposed to stay until May 5 but they attempted to leave Boracay on April 21.
A tour guide claimed they backed out after seeing policemen at the Godofredo P. Ramos Airport.
It is believed that couple and the three boys stayed in Boracay until their air transport was arranged.
Wanky said Gong could have left the island but “is still within the area of Region 6.”
As this developed, the three boys are placed under the custody of Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.
A P5 million reward is being offered for information on Gong’s whereabouts.
