LINGAYEN, Philippines — Shellfish gathered in Bolinao and Anda in Pangasinan are now safe for human consumption after the coastal waters in these areas tested negative for algae that produce the red tide toxin.
In a post on social media on Thursday night, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) said that the red tide ban imposed in January has been lifted.
The BFAR said all types of shellfish and acetes sp or alamang gathered in these areas are now free from shellfish paralytic poisoning or red tide toxin.
Sale and transport of shellfish gathered from Bolinao and Anda are now allowed, the BFAR said.
