LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — The Pangasinan Polytechnic College (PPC) is set to mark its first anniversary on Feb. 14, commemorating a year of swift progress and milestones since its establishment by the provincial government last year.

PPC president Raymundo Rovillos expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming celebration which will be held on Feb. 10-14, featuring a variety of student-focused events.

"Everyone is welcome," Rovillos said.

The celebration will highlight activities, such as an arts and crafts fair in line with National Arts Month and a pre-Valentine's concert on Feb. 12. The celebration will culminate in a program on the anniversary date.

Reflecting on the institution's first year, Rovillos described it as a whirlwind of achievements, propelled by robust support from Gov. Ramon Guico III and other provincial government officials.

"Almost everything we requested was approved. With the synergy of the right people and resources, we worked fast and delivered results," Rovillos said.

The PPC, which provides scholarships to its students through provincial funding, will double its enrollment to 1,400 in the upcoming academic year.

Rovillos also acknowledged academic challenges faced by some students, particularly in mathematics, but emphasized the college's commitment to addressing these through its Learning Resource Center, which offers tutoring and targeted interventions.

The college is also looking to broaden its academic offerings with ambitious plans to launch a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program and a Doctor of Medicine program by 2026.

These initiatives are part of a strategic vision to grow enrollment to 5,500 students across various programs by 2029.

To support its growing student body, the provincial government has approved the construction of a four-story building at the Narciso Ramos Sports Complex, PPC's main campus.

Rovillos said the college is preparing to establish satellite campuses in Umingan, Alaminos City, and San Carlos City, creating a comprehensive PPC system.

A seven-hectare property in Barangay Gonzales, Umingan has already been earmarked for one of these satellite campuses.

While the exact timeline for these expansions is still being determined, Rovillos expressed confidence in their realization, given Guico's prioritization of education.

"When the governor gives the marching orders, we deliver," Rovillos said.

As the college approaches its first anniversary, Rovillos reaffirmed PPC's mission to provide accessible, high-quality education to the youth of Pangasinan.

"We are on track," Rovillos said.

"With the right people and resources, we will continue to deliver not just for our students, but for the entire community," he added.
