Pangandaman greenlights the creation of 4,000 new Teacher I positions (SG 11) under batch 2 of the Department of Education's (DepEd) request with the following allocation: 1,658 for kindergarten/elementary, 391 for junior high school, and 1,951 for senior high school for SY 2025–2026.
"I am happy to share that we have already approved the creation of an additional 4,000 new teaching positions to support the hiring of more teachers in public schools. This is on top of the initial 16,000 positions under batch one that we've already approved in May this year," Pangandaman said.
"This is still part of President Bongbong Marcos’s goal to increase the number of teachers and to give proper attention to the students. [President Marcos] said that all agencies must work together, especially with the reopening of classes in the country. So, that’s what we’re doing," the budget secretary added.
The funding requirements for this purpose shall be sourced from DepEd's Built-in Appropriations under the FY 2025 GAA, specifically lodged under the program/activity/project - New School Personnel Positions.

Moreover, it may be noted that the DBM also approved 10,000 non-teaching positions for DepEd in April 2025 to ease the burden of administrative work from teachers.
