Panagbenga features grand float parade

BAGUIO CITY — Around 42 flower-adorned floats will amaze the crowd during the grand float parade of this year's Baguio Flower Festival or Panagbenga 2025 at the city's main thoroughfares on Sunday, Feb. 23.

Leading the float parade are Hall of Famers Baguio Country Club with two floats and SM Prime Holdings Inc.

The festival organizers announced Thursday 14 of the 16 floats will compete in the large float category with the Department of Tourism-CAR and Paragon Hotel and Suites as non-competing floats.

Perennial competing floats, Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (Tieza), Converge ICT Solutions Inc. Jollibee Foods Corp., International Pharmaceuticals, KFC, Regacso and Pepsi Cola will also field their floats.

Eleven floats will compete in the medium category with Zaparita Garden, Chowking and Mang Inasal expected to vie for the top spots.

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will also parade its float, as it aims to encourage the public to cast their votes in the upcoming May 2025 midterm elections.

Another 11 of 12 floats will compete in the small category with Tau Gamma Phi Baguio Grand Council as the lone noncompeting entry.

"With a total of 42 floral floats, this year's parade promises a breathtaking display of floral artistry, creativity, and community spirit, further solidifying Panagbenga's status as one of the most anticipated festivals in the Philippines," according to the BFF Foundation Inc.

The BFFI added the grand float parade remains a highlight of the Panagbenga Festival, which is a celebration of creativity, culture, and community spiritedness.

The street dancing parade on Feb. 22, meanwhile, will be participated by thousands of individuals mostly students from various schools and groups from all over Luzon.

The festival organizer, on the other hand, reminded politicians and their supporters that campaigning during the Panagbenga festivities is strictly prohibited.

"The objective is to maintain the apolitical and inclusive nature of the festival while fostering a festive environment for all attendees. Incumbents and candidates are prohibited from using festival activities as platforms for campaigning, endorsing, or distributing campaign materials," the festival organizers announced.
